MALT Announces a Conservation Easement in Boulder County!
The Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) is pleased to announce the completion of a voluntary private Conservation Easement in Boulder County. The Conservation Easement is a four-acre property owned by the Fischer family and is located west of Boulder along Sunshine Canyon Drive. Travelers from Sunshine Canyon Drive and Highway 36 will appreciate the viewscapes of this protected property.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) considers the property to be significant habitat for many large mammals including mule deer, elk, black bear and mountain lion. The property is specifically identified as winter range for elk and a summer concentration area for black bear. The landowners recognize that the Conservation Easement ensures that wildlife values will be protected in perpetuity.
The protection of this property along with the closing earlier this week in Boulder County prevents any future development, helping to maintain the rural, mountain character of the Sunshine Canyon community.
